Rogues of Medicare

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has been tracking about 160 fugitives who have ripped off hundreds of millions of dollars from the taxpayer-funded Medicare program by filing billions in false claims. About half of those were charged by indictments that have not been made public. In the past three years, the number of arrests has risen significantly -- about 25 -- as many fugitives who fled to Cuba and other Latin American countries got caught while trying to return to the United States.
