More than 200,000 people per day ride a bus in Miami-Dade, easily making it the busiest arm of the county's mass-transit system. However, not all passengers enjoy the ride. Many have voiced their concerns to the county by submitting complaints to the transit department. The Miami Herald requested 19 months' worth of complaints to see what frustrates current bus riders. This is part of the Herald's Bus Gripes database
The Miami Herald sorted bus feedback entries into 12 categories and compared them with results from the entire system. It then assigned routes a star rating for each category. The number of stars – one being the worst and three being the best – represents the route's complaint rate compared with other routes in that category. Submissions are published as recorded by the county.

Every morning I take the same 5:28 am bus and today I was late to work because the bus that I was supposed to take was incorrectly labeled. Instead of it being the bus to Aventura Mall it ended up being the bus to the Mall at 163rd Street. I realize that these are two different lines,l but I did not know that there was no bus to the Mall at 163rd at this time in the morning. PAX REPORTS THE FOLLOWING October 13, 2014, at approximately 12:51pm, she boarded Route 9 at 79th street and North Miami Avenue. She stated that the driver was extremely rude and unprofessional. After swiping her Golden Passport EASY Card and taking a seat, she (Ms. Gibson) noticed that the driver was speaking to passengers and not paying attention to traffic. Ms. George said out of fear, she told the driver to pay attention to driving before someone gets hurt. The driver told Ms. George to return to the front and show her id. Words were exchanged between Ms. George and the driver and the driver stopped the bus and told her to get off. When Ms. George refused, a police officer was dispatched to the location. The police officer advised Ms. George that the bus driver stated she refused to pay her fare and she must be removed. Ms. George is extremely upset at the way she was treated and, that she was removed from the bus although she had a Golden Passport. Ms. George waited for another bus and boarded without incident.

On 3/07/14 caller took the route 9 SB at 145th st ne 6th ave at appx 3:41 pm. Caller stated that she wanted to get off the bus at 98th st ne 2nd ave so she pulled the cord to let the oper know in enough time to stop but he kept going to 95th st ne 2nd ave. She though the oper was unaware that he should have stopped and passed her stop. She has a bad foot and had to walk back to 98th st. Pax stated that this is the second time he gets on route 48 from University Station and has a discussion with the operator. He claims that last week he asked the operartor why he is always behind schedule and his response was that this is Miami. Today operator got to the station got off the bus and when operator came back passenger got on the bus and was told by the operator to get off until he told him to. Route 9 to and from Aventura needs to increase to every 15 min during rush hour and every 20 min off rush hour. I have complained a lot about this route. Many times it is packed like sardines in a can.

At approx 5:25pm As I board the 9 sb bus at the Skylake Mall I recognize the driver when I took the bus sometime ago.I had two big spreads in my hands and I didn't want to hit the passengers on the bus.So I kindly asked if i can pay my bus fare with my easy card & then I asked if I can enter through the backdoor.He's giving me so much attitude & the front of the bus.He was saying "DON'T YOU EVEN DARE THINK ABOUT PUTTING THEM THERE" . I wasn't going to put them there anyway.Thats why I wanted to enter through the back door.I walked to the back and the bus was so packed,Thankful this old lady said i can put the spread in her basket and i sat and held one.He was giving everyone attitude & talking down to people like were aren't humans.What he fail to understand is that not everyone have a car.So we have to buy our things and take the bus. Caller would like to report that the route 9 traveling southbound and northbound is always late or just doesn't show up at all, no matter the time. Pax claims she catches the bus around 10:00am heading south, and around 3:00pm coming back north from MDC Wolfson Campus, and says that buses alwasys arrive late, or sometimes come back-to-back.
